Ultima is my favorite. I won't touch red bull, rock star, or any of those similiar to them, since they are carbonated. Right before I work out , I usually eat some GU because it has caffiene, ginger and ginseng in it.

Most of those drinks you see won't hurt you, but what you need to maximize the desirable results of your workout are a good diet including plenty of water and adequate rest in between workouts to allow your body to rebuild. Something about your question raised a red flag for me. You may be prone to over-training. If you don't know what this means you probably should get a good personal trainer to help you setup your workout program. Keeping yourself healthy and free of injuries will give you the best opportunity for achieving that "rock solid to the edge" result. Good luck!

Get some creatine in its powdered form, usually 90+% content. Mix about 2 tablespoons in a glass of Grapejuice & add 1 teaspoon of sugar for an added boost.
For the first week of training have this mix about 4 times a day. Then have it about twice a day. preferrebly just before a workout.
In my experience I found that the creatine helps your muscle tissue regenerate much faster than usual thus preventing spasms etc.

If you do redbull, do the sugar free, because with all of the sugar you will crash half way through. The best combo though is red bull prior for the energy (sugar free) and Gatorade throughout to keep you carbs replenished and maintain the level.

Not less than 2 hours before work out, drink plenty of water. Afterwards, drink isotonic drinks. Do not drink caffeine based ones.
