I like Google for blogging, why would you care what Google says about somebody else? I've been using Limewire and totally ditched Emule. Limewire is very fast while Emule is very slow. Unlike what used to happen with, say, Kazaa, you don't get any spyware, malware, adware with Limewire, it does not affect your PC's performance. Of course, you can download some program from somebody else that contains some virus or some trojan - that is why you must always have your antivirus program up to date. It will probably warn you if you're downloading something with a virus and give you the possibility of deleting. But you should check it, anyway, before running anything you downloaded, it's only logical. You'll be fine then. As for Limewire, it's just a P2P program, why on earth would it be unsafe. Tell Google to shut their mouths.

You cannot get a virus or a trojan from Limewire. Limewire is just a PROGRAM that uses file sharing so that you can download songs and videos from OTHER people. You are not necessarily getting that file from the Limewire program. You are downloading items from other people's shared folder so it is possible to get a virus or a trojan from the file you are trying to download because you are trusting other peoples' files.
As long as you have good protection for your computer, then you should be fine. I have used limewire for 2 years now and I never had problems.

I got viruses and spyware from LimeWire and they totally crashed my computer. I had to format and reinstall Windows (I didn't want to just repair because they would still be there). It sucks up all your upstream bandwidth unless you set it not to. I recommend against LimeWire. I use eMule and have not had any problems with it at all!

limewire is a plague of issues for PCs. Personally I'd remove it, and get some anti-spyware software installed on your machine. I've seen gigabytes of hidden files on PCs "infected" with limewire. Just buy your songs and keep you PC safe.
