diabetes had a genetic basis. if someone in your family had diabetes, especially your father, there is a chance that you can have it also. it is inheritable and mostly affect men.

there are two types of diabetes.

the type 1 happens in individual where the pancreas cannot produce insulin to control the sugar level in the blood. the inidividual with this type has to consume or inject insulin into the body everyday.

the type 2 occurs usually in adults around 40 - 50 years old. this happens when the pancreas fails to do its job, secreting insulin.

i don't know treatments but Control of Sugar intake and testing for blood sugar are ways of preventing it to happen.

Lack of insulin that control the sugar level in blood, the cause can be inherent, other causes not known, no significant prevention, but take less sugar and salt is always better..
