What are the good bars/nightclubs in the area, especially for live music. Also any good suggestions on restaurants in the area (Not Applebee's, Olive Garden, Ruby Tuesdays, etc.) but something unique or a local favorite.

Thanks for the riveting comments so far. I know I can download a map, but that only gives me locations. It tells me NOTHING about the bar/restaurant of interest. NO I'm not coming to Pittsburgh just for the "bars". Keep in mind this is a business convention with socializing mixed in as well. I'm not just taking a road trip to check out a new city.

lots of upscale chain restaurant and bars at easton. i know they are chains but at least you could walk back to your hotel. when i go to columbus we usually go to the arena district/short north area, lots of fun funky places. you could definitely wander around down there
