The best way is to get a group or band together, write some original music and record a three song demo. Create a "press kit" which basically will consist of the three song demo (no more, no less), a decent sized photo of the band and a short biography of the band. You will need to hire a manger of some sort to be able to get the record companies to accept your demo. (You might be able to get away without one, but I would strongly urge you to hire one). Also, start performing around where you live. Sing at the local bars, small restaurants, churches, anywhere that will let you sing. Most areas have competitions from time to time which are always good too! If you win, you can add that to your bio in the press kit!

Oh, and the best thing you can do is be prepared to accept rejection. Most signed acts have been rejected multiple times in trying to get to the top! Don't let it ruin your dreams!

That's a philosophy 101 question, very similar to "If a tree falls in the forest and there's no one there to hear it, does it make a sound?"

You can be a real singer without being discovered by record dealers, drug dealers or any other kind of dealer. Happy singing!

If you enjoy your singing, you already are ' a real singer'
if you want stardom then a5stringjedi has it right!!
There are 1000's (10,000s???) of people with great singing voices
I toured my band around for 3 years in the 90's
I met 100's of very talented, beautiful, creative, well-connected people
None of them (!!!) got discovered, except Jack White
and back then he was the drummer for Goober and the Peas!
BE open minded, it may be your passion to sing POP, but maybe people will pay you to sing Torch songs, or country, if you say NO a few times, ALL people will stop asking you for ANY singing
Good Luck
