People are aware of South Africa being a beautiful country, but they are blinded by what they see on TV. I am a South African living in Seoul, Korea and have made it my mission to re-educate people on South Africa.
Most foreigners only know that we have lots of animals and that the San walks around in bikini's. That's why I'm currently trying to get people there. At this point me and my brother(also in Korea) have gotten three churches to donate to AIDS victims in South Africa. We have also managed to get students from our schools to visit South Africa by going on homestays.
The three churches and the parents of the students were pleasantly surprised at how beautiful South Africa really is and will all visit SA during the World Cup in 2010.
We are currently busy putting a plan together, so people from Korea can visit SA on a regular basis.
Once we get people to visit our wonderful country, they can start educating others. But we have to do something. And not promote our country in a bad way, like some are doing. Rather in a good positive way. This way they'll get to see for themselves.
At this point not many realize all we have to offer. If you wanna show people SA, why don't you show them the Lion's Share Video. Scroll down from the link below and click on Lion's Share Video. It's a great video that shows the true South Africa....

Unfortunately a once nice Country ruined by the violent and rampant crime. Some of the Beauty spots are exremely dangerous to visit e.g. Table Mountain where there have been numerous attacks on Tourists and white people to the extent they have had to put 40 additional "Security" personnel there. It also doesn't help when Tourists are greeted at the Airport with a display of traditional weapons as were 2 Japanese Tourists at Jhb International last week who were chased down the highway by bandits firing guns at them. FIFA have completely lost the plot in placing the 2010 World Cup there placing the lives and safety of however many 0000's of people who will be deluded by the Tourist Authority in going there. We trust that Blatter will see the light and find an alternative and safe venue such as Australia as is rumoured. In any event South Africa does not have the infrastructure to cope with the biggest sporting event on the Planet never mind the violent crime. It has in the past hosted the minor sports of Cricket and Rugby but they were in safer times. Unfortunately the so called Rainbow Nation is a myth and the Tourist Industry and Government are in complete denial about the daily murder and rape. The inner cities are complete no go areas through crime apart from the utter filth littering the streets and gutted buildings. In Durban some locals have seen fit to set up a squatter camp in a Hindu graveyard whilst the Northern suburbs of Johannesburg are suffering from rat infestation through the proliferation of uncollected rubbish. All these stories can be read on www.news24.com or www.iol.co.za but the best sites to visit for a true picture of South Africa are www.crimexposouthafrica.org or southafricaiscrap.blogspot.com Sad but anyone considering a visit to South Africa should stay well away until the violent crime is addressed and reduced to levels where local residents do not have to sit in fear in their homes behind 10 foot electrified walls with guns at the ready in case they become the next unreported statistic in this violent Country. Peter Bruce the Editor of the Business Day. a well respected morning daily, was quoted last week in the International media as follows "Whatever the Police or Politicians may tell us, this is a violent and threatening place. Living here is dangerous." Pity the Government and Tourist Boards refuse to hear him or the British Foreign Office and Tourist Authorities of the US,Australia and Canada who are all issuing warnings to their citizens. The Norwich Union, Britain's largest Insurer rate South Africa as the most dangerous destination for British Tourists to visit. Sad sad sad.

Great country, beautiful, vast areas with wild animals, great beaches, mountains, great infrastructure (roads, telephone, water, etc), great people...
I think anybody who would take the time to come and visit would know how wonderful it is and I know of many people who keep coming back....
