It's really all a matter of choice. I shave all the way up my legs, but I have to, because I have dark hair and it's really noticeable whenever I don't shave. If you have light hair on your thighs, I wouldn't bother, unless it was something that bothered you.

I am a blonde, also. I shave all the way up to mid-thigh. You can't really 'see' any hair after that point because it is so light, so I stopped taking the time to shave it.

I have very fine, very light blond body hair, but I still shave my entire leg. The reason? Because no matter how unnoticeable they are, you'll still see them outside. When the sun hits your legs, the hair will reflect the light. It makes the hair very noticeable, and appear to be more hair there than what actually is.
It's a matter of preference, so if you are comfortable shaving just below the knee, and not above, then continue to do so. But please expect that one day some insensitive @$$ will probably make some dumb comment about it, and you'll have to deal when it comes.

Well, I'm a little obsessive compulsive, so I tend to over-do things at times...maybe be a little too thorough. However, I shave my calves and knees Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I shave my thighs every Monday. They don't look like they need it, but I have seen women who don't shave their thighs, and OMG - hairy!

I shave my thighs and I have dark hair and it's still not really visible but to some nosy prick or a hot guy that you want to talk to, they might notice. But I do it just to satisfy myself so the entire leg is smooth.

It is all a matter of preferance. If it concerns you than do it. But having plenty of estheticians who are close friends, shaving hair does indeed cause it to grow back thicker. So once you take the plunge you will need to maintain it forever. Wish I had never started doing mine!

When you wear capri shorts or knee length skirts, just the calves are fine. But honey when you wear something shorter, please shave every part of the leg that shows.

here are some good shaving tips; and you only need to shave above your knee if you want, you don't have to ;)
1. Avoiding nicks, cuts and dryness eHow Friend
To avoid nicking or cutting legs, use a razor with a pivoting head to shave around sensitive areas like your knees. To avoid dryness, try a shaving cream specially formulated for your skin type.

2. Exfoliation helps eHow Friend
I've found that gently exfoliating my legs with a loofah or pumice on the days I don't shave will prevent ingrown hairs and bumps, making a smoother shave with fewer nicks.

3. Avoid rashes and burning Dani
Applying lotion or going to the beach soon after shaving can cause unsightly red bumps and burning on your legs. Avoid this by shaving the day before you plan to visit the beach or show off your legs.

4. Slick with oil Kimmy
Shave with body oil instead of shaving gel, cream or soap. A body oil helps minimize nicks and cuts, and it leaves your skin soft.

5. Make legs softer eHow Friend
To make legs extra soft, try shaving with hair conditioner instead of shaving cream.

6. Eliminate goosebump stubble Danielle
Here's how to get the smoothest shave possible, and eliminate stubble that might pop up if your legs get cold: shave as you regularly would, step outside shower, and wait a minute for goosebumps. Once they appear, shave again (carefully!) and voila! Smoot

7. Get a closer shave Robin
Don't shave first thing in the morning - wait until you've been up and around for awhile. Fluids that pool while you're sleeping all night will then have dissipated, puffiness will be gone and you'll get a closer shave.

8. Shaving Tip Jamie
I find it easier if you shave after you take a shower. It keeps your legs soft, because when you dry your legs, it can get them dry. Or, you can let your legs dry naturally. It really, really, really helps!

9. Baby yourself Yolanda
For very sensitive skin - and to ease razor burn - apply baby oil on your legs as soon as you get out of the shower. Make sure your legs are still wet when applying the baby oil. This also helps keep the moisture locked in for a sexy shine.

10. No razor burn Nicole
When using a new razor, don't push down very hard. Brush lightly and you will still get a clean shave without the pain!

11. Razor choice Fellow shaver
Use a guy's razor. I find that they leave fewer nicks and less
razor burn.

12. Shaving Courtney
Before shaving, after your legs are good and wet, run a loofah over them to exfoliate the dead skin. This will prevent the razor from having to cut through your old skin cells and give you a closer shave.

13. Avoid shaving pimples/rash Deepa
For every stroke up, shave one down. It settles the skin and prevents itchy shaving pimples.

14. Sloughing off Debstar
Remove dead skin cells with a body scrub or a loofah first; dead skin cells interfere with a close shave.

15. Some don'ts Debstar
Don't shave right before applying sunscreen to your legs or stepping into a chlorinated pool. Can you say, "Ouch! That stings"?
