It could be a crime if you download illegally. I know of some places that allow you to buy mp3s but say it is illegal to put them on cd or more than one mp3 player. It all depends on the copyright.

No it is the future of all music now, it will replace the CD soon enough, as the market for mp3 players, software etc is huge, and we don't have to worry about cd skipping on cd players anymore, as it is all digital, it won't be long before we go to shops like HMV, and just take our mp3 players with us, and just plug in to download the required music etc, no more cd's with scratches on etc!

Not really.

But that question should be posed to the companies that supply the gateway to downloading the mp3s. If all one has to do is download the software, accept the adware and there's no mention of illegal downloading then it's not the end users fault.
In my view anyway....

The answer is yes if the material is copyrighted.

Not if it's for your personal use, and you buy the product you are converting.
Don't let them tell you different, and they will now they are starting to sell MP3 songs direct over the internet.

If you have an mP3 for a song you own or have purchased no.

But if you downloaded the song illegally and you didnt pay for it then yes.

If you mean is downloading them a crime...if you are using them yourself ...NO...if you are making dodgy CD's and selling them at the boot sale..YES!!
