You aren't going to convince her to stop swearing but if her volume is disturbing your workspace you need to ask her if she can quiet down. Politely, of course. I would say something like "Hi, I'm not trying to be funny, but I'm really concentrating on so-and-so and I'd really appreciate it if you could keep it down a little. Thanks, I really do appreciate your consideration." But make sure there is NO hint of sarcasm or annoyance in your voice, if she picks up that you're upset she'll think "what a *****." and though this might get you quiet, it'll also cause more tension in the office.

She probably doesn't eaven realize how loud she is, (some italians tend to talk loud by nature) but definetely knows how vulgar she is. I would bring it to my Supervisor's attention that she is very disruptive in that manner and ask him to take some action. As a Sup. he/she will keep it private and confidential and hopefully coming from him / her, you'll see a change in this woman's behavior.

give her a compliment and then a little later or the next day joke around with her saying you are going to bring a bar of soap to wash out her mouth--if she still doesn't get the hint then tell her she's upset some visitors in your office and some of the co-workers. it's a lot easier to be friends before you tell someone their bad habits.
