What makes you think someone has hacked your wireless connection?..Is it just because you have looked at Netgears Wireless Utility & seen another network aswell as your own? If that is all it is & if you are using a WPA-PSK key they cannot get in to your network. To be on the safe side change your WPA-PSK key by logging into your account with your computer connected by an ethernet cable to your router & whilst you are at it change your login password to your account from the default netgear one (ie the one you use to log in with username admin). When you have done & your wireless network is running again then disable broadcast your SSID so no one can detect your network. Please note that once you have disabled broadcasting your SSID then if you make any changes to your wireless settings eg password your other computers will not be able to detect the network..so you will have to connect again to the router via ethernet cable, enable broadcast, allow your other computers to detect the network again so that they can be adjusted to the new settings. Once done, then disable broadcast of SSID again.

I'm not quite sure what you are getting at here. If you have a wireless connection and someone has hacked into it, this is because you probably dont have WEP encryption active. If someone is connected to your network via wireless, they cant be that far away, so look out for someone sitting in a car with a laptop in the vicinity! If you want to trace traffic on your network, installa packet sniffer on your PC and you should be able to see tha data going through the network, including that of the 'hacker'. You probably wont be able to trace who it is, as if theyare connected to your wireless network, the IP they have will be one allocated by your router.

You can check the client connections on your wireless router and get their MAC address. You can also get their IP address. From there it is up to you how you hack their machine. Hacking their computer is illegal in most countries though, regardless of their leeching your bandwidth...Depending on where you live it may or may not be illegal to leech someone else's wireless.
You should be able to block their MAC address from using your wireless but I don't know if your wireless router supports that.

it can only be someone in your neighborhood. to prevent from hacking into your wireless network you have to define a WEP or WPA encryption on both, the router and the PC. for an additional security you can define MAC filtering (you'll find that under the Tab "Wireless" in the router setup site.

we've instantaneous broadband and characteristic no longer had a concern with it. Its relatively a case of being particular. do no longer attempt and build it, then shelter it, shelter it as you build. As greater desktops connect the community, make confident the router or get right of entry to component knows of the IP address, making confident that desktops with an IP address no longer interior the checklist can't get right of entry to the community. additionally, set the encryption as good as your desktops can get, i take advantage of WPA TKIP (i think of) it incredibly is often the main shelter you will get at living house or in a small workplace. in case you google it, you will discover a lot of solutions and suggestions that we have got not scratched on. yet be confident to place a secure firewall on your desktops! i take advantage of ZoneAlarm so regardless of in the event that they have the means to hack in, they gained't be waiting to get right of entry to the pc's components different than the printer, yet TBH i do no longer comprehend what I hacker might go with with a printer...

For my wireless unit... I have to install a password that prevents others from using my connection. make sure you have installed a password on your computer during the installation of the software. Don't worry about who it is... just get them off!
