Should be ok, the hardware will be fine, its the software you use to connect that will be affected i.e. username & password.

BT will supply you with the details you need.

i have been with bt since they started doing internet services, and i personally would contact bt and see if you can get a new modem
i have just upgraded to the bt home hub from a voyager 205,and it worked out i saved £5 per month so its allways worth asking, theres never a catch with bt,only with these "free" broadband companys you have to be careful as there are minimun rental periods such as 18 months(talk.talk) and also early cancelation fees ,in 1 case it costs £80 to cancel
you will be ok with your current modem, but i would ask bt for a new modem, infact you will find they will probally send you a new modem when you sign up for their broadband services, they normally send you a voyager 205,210,or if you are lucky they may send you a bt home hub(28 day for delivery)
good luck
