I think he ll probably retire. as a long time red wing fan it saddens me to see all the veterans leaving and retiring. The great thing about Hockeytown is that we ll just retool and reload and be good to go.

Chris Chelios has already signed a one year contract with the Red Wings for this upcoming season for $800.000

He signed a one-year contract at the end of May, so he'll at least be around for this season. I can't imagine the team trading him, both because he's still a decent defenseman and because it would be pretty disrespectful.

It looks like he'll play this year, then make a decision about 2007 based on how he feels at the end of the season.

Chris Chelios will be playing hockey until he is as old as Gordie Howe. At least that is my impression. LOL

They would never trade him--he's too old and too much of a fixture there. Especially since Stevie retired, they need to keep him. He may have a whole season left in him, time'll tell.

Regardless, he'll get the full and well deserved ceremonial treatment when he finally hangs up his skates.

I think he wants to do what every old player wants to do.... Take the Cup one more time and then he would be done right when they win the cup, or if they make it to the finals and lose he would retire
