That happens to me sometimes too. I think it's just an echo in your subconscious. Maybe your brain wants you to wake up, and so chooses a stimulus that will definitely rouse you, e.g someone saying your name, or perhaps it's just a dream beginning or hypnagogic hallucination, but mistaken for an external element.

As I say, it's happened to me, and it usually either drags you from sleep, or jerks you awake when you are very relaxed and drowsy. It happened to me quite regularly, oddly, also around about 3am for a couple of weeks last year. I remember discussing it with my mother as it scared me a little.

It's nothing to worry about.

1. Do you doubt that you have auditory hallucination? If so you should go see a psychiatrist.
2. Or maybe you were too tired and were not so widely awake. It could be something else but you heard it as a voice saying your name.
3. Or somebody was trying to scare you.

I do not believe in ghosts or spirits. The voice was definitely NOT from these non-existing stuff.

I'm a psych major who has also been on the other end of the profession. I'm told from both sources that a voice calling your name as you're falling asleep or as you're waking up or whatever is kind of normal. Happens to everyone once in awhile.

It means some one is speaking. :)

Actually it means that certain electrical impulse has accidentally and subconsciously been diverted to the area in your brain which keeps the patterns or imprints of sounds you heard from day to day. The sounds that makes the strongest imprints are the ones that are repeated the most. And guess what sounds are repeated most often? Your name!

It can some times be someone trying to help you. For instance I suffer from asthma and one night while I was asleep I heard a voice telling me to change my sleeping position. It turns out I was finding it hard to breath.

perhaps it was a thread of a dream, calling your attention to something you need to attend to. don't jump to the conclusion that it's a hallucination, and that you're crazy. listen to the content of the voice, and find the truth - what is it asking of you? if it ever asks you to put foil on your head, to interfere with the aliens dowloading info into your brain, high tail it to the shrink. until then, listen to it - it's your inner voice, your unconscious speaking to you. no matter how crazy it sounds, there's usually a grain of truth contained in it. that's my humble opinion, anyway! Good Luck!

That makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.
I don't know what it might be, but for some reason I believe you.
Maybe the answer isn't meant to be known.

sorry i dont really know the answer but i had to laugh at barneyboys'! ahhahahah

if you have only heard it once and all it said was your name i dont think you should panic...you cant be sure that it wasnt someone outside calling that name, or that you dreamt/imagined it, so don't worry....unless t continues or gets worse
