Yes, it should be legalized. Alcohol impairs you much more than weed does. I take a handful of shots, and I can't even walk straight, much less function. However, I can go smoke all the weed I want, and I can still function perfectly fine. The effect isn't any different that that of prescription anti-anxiety prescriptions that millions of people are on.

And lung cancer? A years long study recently found no correlation between lung cancer and marijuana. It contradicted their own hypotheses. Yet, cigarettes are legal.

It's funny that of all of the legal "drugs" we have out there, that something as benign as weed is still illegal.

As for weed being a gateway drug...I've smoked more than my share of pot over the years, and even when offered, I haven't been tempted to try anything harder. Ok, so maybe I was tempted, but I have the will power to not give in. Most people who smoke, just do it to relax. That's no different than a guy grabbing a beer on his way home from work.

I do not disagree with this statement. While I do not use this drug I do not see the harm that it causes.

For example:

You don't beat your wife and kids when your high. (alcohol is prone to induce violence)

You usually just eat alot and lay around. (drunk people tend to get a little red and decide to drive and get more beer or liquor which in some cases results in car wrecks and loss of life)

I see it as a lot like cigarettes, which I am sure the police state will control soon enough. Why not just tax the **** out of it?

I never heard of pot getting many people amped before. My thoughts are, what difference does it make. If it were legalized the government would tax it to the point it would still be cheaper if smuggled in and we would pretty much have the same problem. The only positive I could see is how many less people we would have to care for in the punative system. (jails, etc)

I think they system we have is fine, I think it should remain illegal. It promotes a lot of bad and hard to regulate terms. I think if you have a brain you can smoke marijuana without worrying about being caught. I don't think its a terrible thing but it has enough bad effects on people and society that I realize why it's illegal. Keep smoking but just keep it in your car or home and don't break the law in other ways while you posses it and you should be okay. It's kind of like a stop sign, you stop if you see a cop or anyone else at the intersection.

Um, no, I don't think it should be legalized.
Alcohol in itself is not a bad thing. I see nothing wrong with having a drink every now and then. I'm a big fan of cocktails, German beer, wine, and occasionally taking shots. And I LOVE absinthe.
Only problem is, humans have a tendency to abuse EVERYTHING good. That includes sex, alcohol, AND marijuana.
I used to smoke quite a bit of pot, but I preferred to do it just every once in awhile. I could make one bowl last for days, and I never got "stoned stupid"...at least, not after I graduated from high school.
There is nothing inherently wrong with marijuana. It's just that it is abused far too often.
Now, I do believe that it should be decriminalized. If a person is caught with less than a half ounce on them, there should be NO chance of them going to jail (if they're over 18). They should only receive a slap on the wrist (maybe a $50 ticket).
If a person wants to use in their own home, and there are no children present, I don't think that they should be punished for that, either. It's their business. As long as they're not getting in a car afterwards, it should be fine.
But illegalize it completely? NO WAY!

You lose your punch when you tell people your intention. Try it without the clue next time.
