I can move or edit all the tool bars but this one, again any suggestions. I do suspect it slipped in with adware.

Download Ad-Aware for free from Download.com and Spybot Search and Destroy from the same location, also for free. Install these programs then restart your pc in "safe mode" then run both programmes, that should sort that out for you!

If you are comfy with a Windows OS, make a backup of the Registry, then a backup of the OS, then reboot, at startup go into the Registry Editor, delete the keys that are associated with whatever you no longer want to run.
Reboot PC, and all done.
If PC does not boot, take the Backup Disk set that you made and replace the system files with working ones.
This is not a task if you know nothing about the Registry and how to edit it, but that is the most certain way to repair and replace the corrupted data without downloading more Programs to get rid of More programs.

This Web site: http://www.sophos.com/security/analyses/protectionbar.html
indicates that it is an unwanted application. Click on the third tab, Recovery, for information on how to remove it.

I would also recommend purchasing an anti-virus and anti-adware/spyware program such as McAfee, Symantec or Webroot SpySweeper to actively guard your computer against such applications.

Good luck!

To have the best chance of removing this problem, you need to turn off System Restore while you deal with it and run your security software in Safe Mode.
There'll be backup files in System Restore, so even if Ad-Aware or one of the other programs remove it, it'll re-install itself.

Go to Start - programs - accessories - system tools - system restore and turn it off for now.

To get into safe mode, repeatedly press the F8 key after the bios screen loads but before Windows loads, if you don't manage it first time just restart and try again.
Safe mode looks very different and not all your programs will load but don't worry, its supposed to do that. The screen will run at 800 x 600. The scans will take a bit longer so just leave it to get on with it.

Run Ad-Aware SE Personal, Ewido anti trojan and something like Avast! in Safe Mode. It'll take a couple of hours so be patient.
Then reboot and see if its gone.
