Should we be celebrating/condoning the fact that these people are obese and is it good example to set when we have an obesity problem in Britain?? It doesn't surprise me that it is based on an American show.

Yes there is an obesity problem in both the UK and US, but at the end of the day, these people are here, and need to be looked after as consumers of clothes, shoes and beauty products etc, and what better advert than someone less than perfect to show these products off? Just look at the ads for Dove!

These people are here, and that's it, no matter what happens, there is never going to be a time where everyone is a perfect 10, It just ain't gonna happen.

Now, I saw the woman on Richard & Judy last night who orgainised this, I defy anyone to say the woman does not have a beautiful face, and as one of them said, just because the dress size goes up, don't mean my IQ lowers, judging people for what they look like is wrong, but it happens and there will always be those funny people who will sit in judgement, but I ask, are they all so damn perfect themselves?

This is coming to you, from a curvasceous, lucious and beautiful woman so there!

Depends on how large the women are. Lots of women in the UK are a size 16 or 18 and still beautiful and not medically obese - but I do agree that being extremely fat shouldn't be held up as a good thing as it is such a risk to health (but neither should such people be attacked for it, fighing weight gain can be very hard).

No we should not be celebrating obesity. Yes, we should celebrate others who do not fit into the typical "Beauty" category. There are larger women who take care of themselves by exercising and are healthy beings. These are the women that should be celebrated. Everyone cannot be slender. So, celebrate the thick (Healthy) girl, as well as the wiry girl and everything in between.

Good question!!

From the promo I seen, it looks like the women are quite big but not really minger type fat.
The obesity problem is far too big to be affected by these progs but it's important for young girls to realise that you don't have to be crack-whore skinny to look beutiful.

Personally I would rather a woman be (ideally healthy weight but) on the heavier side than the skinny side. At least chubby women have nicer boobs!

It is no worse than having ordinary beauty contests where all the women have the bodies of seven year olds and silicone implants.

To whom will they be setting the example? And what exactly would you propose we do with "these" people, only allow them out at night?

I've seen it before and it is worth watching.
