We don't really have bidets in England, apart from in posh hotels and posh shops in London. I'm not sure why.
My advice is to carry a pouch of wet wipes around with you. They clean you up almost as well as a bidet.

It is a culture issue. You may have noticed that the word bidet is French. We Brits are getting a lot better at personal hygiene but have a way to go yet. Hence your first respondent's answer! When baths were first introduced, a lot of northerners used to use them as indoor coal scuttles. Go figure!

It could be that a lot of new regulations regarding water contamination are present now & bidets in particular can pose a serious threat especially if the water supplies are fitted incorrectly, but apart from that most bathrooms in British homes are not big eniught to accomodate a bidet

I believe it's a cultural thing, I think the word bidet is French and and people believe that if you have a bidet, which is considered an unnessary item, you are well to do-rich and posh.

We English like to keep life as simple as possible - why try & complicate things when they become more complicated without any help anyway?
So, we asked ourselves "do we really have a need for bidets? How often would they get used & what for?" Then we concluded that not many people would use them for what they were intended & so, decided not to waste our time, money & effort in installing any!!!

people shower daily instead...
It is, mostly, a cultural issue, and not really a hygienical one. Many countries don't use bidets, and in others they are oddly mandatory by law in all houses!!!! strange...

I've not seen any for a long time. They were in fashion in the 80's, but not many people have them now. I only ever used them for washing my feet, and its easier to do that in the shower!
