Both require drivers which are installed. But i have a plug and play type mouse that works without rebooting.
Can anyone suggest something.

If you are using a USB set, consider getting PS/2 adapters. Otherwise, remove the drivers. My set has drivers, but i dont use them and most of the special buttons work without the drivers

Try downloading a newer driver from the manufacturer's website.

the only way that it wouldnt work is if it slipped out of its port in the back. try to place it in securely then boot up.
