Vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Take a good strength daily multivitamin and mineral supplement and you will see a change after a few weeks.

hey, it is ok. I got it few months back when I used small shoes and my foot thumb was bleeding below the nail, then few days later the nail broke to randomly half (its not straight).It will reheal soon. Just use some light medicine such as burn paste and bandage it (dont do it as if you have big injuries or something). I just let it grew it by itself though,w/out using anything. Right now it is just perfect!

You cannot do your job - sounds a little dramatic. I think it is one of those funny family gene things. Keep your nails short - then it will not happen.
