Well, I can't see the reason for using two connections at the same time....but it maaaay be possible. Though fiendishly intricate.
Thing is you should really let go of the dial-up it IS the 21 century after all.
The problem with your broadband might lie at the ISP, try connecting yahoo messenger through a proxy, ditch limewire and use dc++ or the likes. Also make sure you don't have a firewall that might block their acces to the net, check the windows one too.
You can alternatively change the ISP or switch to LInux like I did.

The short answer is no. Windows (which I assume you are using) will only support one connection at a time. At least, I've NEVER seen two connections at once.
Are you sure the broadband is the problem? Seems odd to me that a faster connection would 'create' a problem with Limewire & Messenger. What are your settings in those applications for 'connection type'?
good luck

You can acces the internet with two different connections; but a software can detect only one conection(only one IP Address) at a time. So don't think that dual connection can pace up your internet connectivity.
Now your problems: You have problems using broadband with Yahoo! Messenger and Limewire. Although the softwares you specified automatically detect the proxy settings, you may have changed your connection settings switched to Modem. Try changing the connection settings to 'Direct connection to the Internet' or 'Automatically detect proxy settings' in these softwares. It should work fine
OR if you wish to use both connections at the same time(coz on is LAN and other is Modem), change the connection settings of softwares to suit your requirements.

No. I have never been able to do it. Your computer can't tell which connection you want to use for each program.
What are your problems with the yahoo Messenger and limewire on your broadband (what kind of broadband are you using?) It could be a simple setting in those programs that isn't default.

You cannot use two connections at once. If you use dialup, then your computer will ignore the broadband connection. If you use broadband, then it will use your broadband. Once you dial in, it will start using the dial up connection so you cant use both at the same time. Even if you COULD use both, your broadband connection will still have the firewall settings that will prevent those applications from running.
I think your firewall on your broadband needs to be configured correctly. Normally when you cant use a chat messenger or certain game programs online, then its usually the firewall that has port settings. You need to open certain ports on your firewall to allow you to use those programs.
If you tell me what ISP you are using, I might be able to give you directions on how to configure your firewall settings. Just contact me through my profile.

I think you can (I never tried myself), but you will have to specify in the programs' settings, which connection to use; you can't let them automacly detect your connection, because they will most probably have problems.
So, specify in "Messenger" and "LimeWire" to use your dial-up connection and, in your browser, to use the broadband connection.

With LINUX, I've used both connections as long as the subnet masks were different. If the subnet mask is the same, then the computer will have no idea which connection to use.
Some programs can combine bandwidth, but they exist either as separate devices or software controlled firewalls.
Hope this helps.
