With A standrad much higher you can qualify 3 athletesper event who achieve that standard, with B you can only qualify 1 athlete with that, or 2 A plus 1 B

It depends on the sport. But basically B standards are much lower. A standards are there to make sure the competition has a high level. And B standards are there to make sure no country is excluded.
So basically any country can enter one competitor/event. But nobody wants marathon runners who need 1 day to complete the distance! So B standards are there to ensure things are reasonable. But basically for a country to determine who would best represent it, there are standards which are really higher (the A standards).
I guess you are Greek so your country with its great tradition would not have to look for B standards (except in modern pentathlon, maybe) so the competition is tough there.
