America will remain a wealthy and militarily powerful country, but other nations will overtake it in the next 5 years.
The reason is apathy and arrogance. The same thing happened to the British Empire. As soon as you think that you are the very very best, you forget to watch your back.

In the near future the situation looks pretty grim. I collected all the data I have and posted it on one of my sites (http://www.cliffpotts.org). There is every indication that within the next 3 to 5 years we will be in some kind of global war, big war, World War III (call it what you want). This may actually trigger an internal war as World War I triggered the Soviet Revolution and the French Mutiny. That is within the realm of possibilities.
Long term, we will survive. We may abdicate the superpower status, and try to find a simpler place in the world community. The power shift may go to India, China, the African Union, or some kind of global government which will take over the UN's functions.
That will resemble the 50s, more then any other time in the US history, if we do not have the civil upheaval. It is going to be a mess for some time to come, however, we have about a dozen years to go before we are out of the situation brought about by the neglect of the current administration.

Judging from the current chain of events I would say we are not far off from a police state. It would seem that corporate facism is slowly eroding away at this country. You now have corporations merging with the government and that is never a good thing. If you study history you will see that it leads straight to facism.
We could possibly be in WW3 I am not really in a position to comment on that.
I would say that if the American people wake up everything will be ok. But once again, judging from the current chain of events we have a long way to go before that happens.

We will carry on just like we always have.......we Americans are pretty resilient. We've suffered through lots of tragedies and economic downfalls and still we are ok. I mean, most of us may not have all we want, but we have all that we NEED. So I think the future is neutral and we will carry on as normal.

I believe we have a great future. I do have to keep reminding my self that the lazy little communist spoiled brats I see on here are not the norm. America is worth fighting for, and you better be ready to fight for it. There are many that have there head in the sand and are going to be in for a rude awakening.
