Okay the US has captured a lot, but the message doesnt seem to be sinking in, there are just more and more.
The one thing terrorists care about is themselves and their family.
Why doesnt the US capture the terrorists families? Do you think they will not try to help them? Even Bin Ladens brother said that if he came for help he would not refuse him. So why not round them all up and have the terrorist execute his own family?
It washes the hands of the CIA and government, and gets a new message to the terrorists. IF you do it we will kill you and your family. I am all for tourture, I wish they would send more terrorists to Egypt, where they can just disappear, why not send thier mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, and kids there with them. Gas them all since the kids will probably just follow in their dads footsteps.
Well here is the question, why would this not work, laws and emotions aside? Be just as nasty as they are...

I have a better idea. If a terrorist does some foul, nasty deed and is discovered and his nationality is known, simply nuke the largest city in his country within 24 hours. If there were ten terrorists in a plot, all from the same country, then nuke the ten largest cities, in order. Do this a few times and they would begin to get the message that if they commit terrorist acts their major cities all turn into vast fields of glass beads.

The USA PATRIOT Act tries to bypass traditional Constitutional (human rights) rules of privacy, free speech, presumption of innocence, etc. And the prosecutors are using technical violations of law to get rid of people who are out of status that in the past would have been left in peace.
Whether terrorists will learn from this and become more secretive and more dangerous I don't know. But what would you have police and prosecutors do -- they already are skirting close to the bad with racial profiling.
I don't know what you mean about "families". Hitler and Stalin killed and exiled families of people they didn't like. Would you give all Muslims 10 days to accept Jesus and be baptised or else burned at the stake or exiled? Ferdinand and Isabella did that, and the Puritans came close.

That would make us the terrorist. How will that solve anything? That would just make matters worse and more people wanting to come afrer us. I don't know about you but that doesn't seem to smart

Excatly! These people who commit these acts are the lowest of the low. We need to be doing whatever it takes to remove these poeple and the way they think from the planet.
