why isn't there an on/off button on ipod video? I used ipod shuffle before and that one had it. Now I got a 5th generation video and there is this hold button but I don't think that has anything to do with on/off. I feel silly but please tell me how to shut off my ipod :) and don't laugh.

Just hold down your play/pause button hun. When the screen goes off, slide your hold/lock to on. And you ain't stupid...took me a while to figure out too. x

I *think* that if you hold down the play/pause button it will shut off. I have a shuffle but DH has the regular ipod and I'm pretty sure thats how it works.

hold the play/pause button for a couple seconds. if you need to shut it off rite away, click the sleep button in settings. otherwise, leave it alone for a minute. it shuts off on its own. if you leave it like that though for 2 days, it will go into deep sleep and take a while to turn on again.

I don't own an I-pod, however, just thought i'd tell you, the hold button can be pressed so that when you have the i-pod in your pocket accidental button pressing wont happen. It kind of locks out your controls. Sorry I couldn't directly answer the question.
