i made a new e-mail and still not working

Make sure you complete your e-mail settings, and try to sign in through your web browser first. If you can sign in fine, then you have successfully created an e-mail account. And try to sign in through your MSN Messenger.
If there is a problem and you still can't sign in, try re-installing msn messenger, or upgrade to Windows Live Messenger.

Wait a few minutes and try again. Sometimes resetting the computer makes it work.

check your firewall. Uninstall norton firewall if you have it see if it works then reinstall norton firewall and make sure to check if the program can access the internet
