Sure the refs fixed Super Bowl XL. The refs also made Jeremy Stevens drop 3-4 passes that would have resulted in first downs. The refs also made Kris Brown shank 2 field goals. I am sure the refs had something to with limiting Shaun Alexander to 20 carries for 95 yards. Those were the most silent 95 yards by a back in the history of the Super Bowl.

I am sure the officiating crew had a hand in Micheal Boulware whiffing on an open field tackle on Willie Parker that enabled him to break off that big run in the second half. The refs failed to let the Seahawk defense know what the rest of the football world knew was coming when Randle El threw that end around touchdown to Hines Ward.

How about that clock management Mr. Holmgren? Andy Reid thinks your hurry up offense was brutal in the big game. How about special teams? I don't recall the punter ever pinning the Steelers deep into their own territory.

C'mon Seahawk fan. The refs didn't jam your team. Had the Seahawks done at least 2 of the little mistakes they made, they would have won that game easily.

The refs had something to do with Mike Holmgren not going for it 4th and 2 near midfield trailing by 11 points with 6:02 left in the game. Surely Shaun Alexander gets those yards easy and they keep the ball. As it turned out, by the time the Hawks got the ball back, it was less then 2 minutes left in the game and no time outs left. Nobody talks about this final mistake that cost Seattle the game.

Trent Dilfer didn't have to throw that bad interception to Ike Taylor who was 20 yards behind the the intended receiver. Yes that was a brutal call on the run back for a block below the waist, but it still didn't change the fact there was a turnover Steeler's ball and not 3 points at least to make it 14-13.

Sorry but it WASN'T FIXED. Oh and WHAT was Holmgren fined for? He wasn't fined for his comments about having to play the refs as well. This just shows your ignorance if you think he was. Can't take it that your players couldn't catch a ball. Can't take it that the pass int. call WAS the correct call if you look up the rules in the playbook. Ok so it isn't normally called BUT it was the right call. I will grant you that the call on Hasselback was a bad call. Although so was the call when a Seahawks player DROPPED the ball after the reception, took two steps at least, and it was called incomplete rather then a fumble that the Steelers would have recovered. They were openly saying on the broadcast that it was proably to make up for calls on the Seahawks.

Just let me say that calls made & calls not made have too much bearing on the out come of games. Are games fixed?
Well just let me say that after almost 50yrs of watching
NFL football officals do have agendas. Calls are very subjective.
Watch the calls. You have to watch lots of games & calls but
there lacks a good consistincy to the calls. There is what I would call a pecking order to it. Some teams get away with things other teams get called for.

Its sort of reinforcement. TV match ups play a big part in this.

Is there a new stadium in a teams future.

Mid 90's TV contracts. NFC telecast were getting almost
twice the money of AFC teams. Denver was getting a new stadium. Greenbay ahead in game. Greenbay player knocked down flag comes out. Ups flag gets picked up. Keep the game close.

Watch the game one play makes the difference & one call or noncall makes the difference.

JUST WATCH THE REFS CLOSER

the final score was 21-10, not 20-19 or something.
If you look at the numbers and rewatch the game you will see that the steelers beat the hawks in every aspect of the game.
however i do not think ben crossed the line, but on that play it was 2nd down and there was/is no way you can keep the steelers out of the end zone at 3rd and goal for the 1 inch line(if one exsisted)
the ARE pass and the 75 yard run where enough to beat the hawks alone so let it sink in and when teh cards win the division this year all will never talk about this last SB again....
RIP hawks

Be careful not to drown in your tears! Get over it. The Seaducks got smacked by a better team & that was LAST year. The Steelers got a backbreakingly bad call against them in the Colt's game & they could have lost a game they dominated because of it, but guess what? They didn't because they sucked it up & kicked butt in spite of the Refs. The Seaducks & their coach should take a lesson from that. Christ, nobody died. It IS just a game.

Yeah, they got cheated. There were definitely more than a few bad calls. However, I think the better team won the game. I think Pittsburgh was more impressive in the postseason winning on the road against Cincy, Indy, and Denver in consecutive weeks. I think Pittsburgh is a better all around team and they deserved it even though they didn't play that much better in the actual game.

Sure, the refs make bad calls every once in a while, that doesn't mean it was fixed! Us Steelers got fixed in the first game with the colts! We won fair and square! Quit making excuses!

A few bad calls doesn't mean the game was fixed. The Hawks got out-played and out-coached, period. Quit making excuses.
