You can make your stomach appear flatter by doing ab exercises that hit the upper abs, lower abs, and obliques every other day, but the only way to get the flab off is through diet and exercise. A common-sense approach is best -- do some type of exercise every day (even if it's just a 15-minute walk), eat only when you're hungry, don't stuff when you eat, drink lots of water and cut way down on soft drinks, cut out the "bad for you" stuff like fast food, junk food, saturated fat, trans fat, and processed flour and sugar as much as possible, and instead eat more "good for you" stuff like fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts, lean meats (especially fish and poultry), eggs, lowfat dairy products, and whole grain breads/cereals/pasta. Here are a few more tips: (1) Want an easy ab exercise you can do anywhere? Just suck in your gut. That's it! Do it as often as you like and try to hold it in as long as possible. Over time, your gut will get that "sucked in" look all the time. (2) Olive oil is very good for you because it is high in monounsaturated fat, but did you know it's also a natural appetite suppressant? Take a tablespoonful before every meal. (3) Circuit training with light weights and high intensity interval training are two of the best exercises for burning fat. HIIT is simple: 30 second sprint, 60-90 seconds walking/low pace jogging, repeat 8-12 times. Good luck!

Do u tend to eat heavy meals before bedtime? Try avoiding this, instead eat something light & healthy. U can eat heavy meals in the morning or at lunchtime as we tend to use more energy during the day (thus, burn more calories).
Regular excercise like sit-ups and running will also help, a lot! Drink plenty of fluids, substitute fruit juice to soft drinks.

Sit ups but really gently, don't need come all the way or you'll end up with neck ache instead of flattening your tummy. Try an Ab trainer, they're great for keeping your head still! And good posture helps, when you stand up keep your tummy pulled in, this will strengthen your muscles too.
Good luck.

Drink lots of fluid. Milk might help here. If that does not work, put an iron at the low setting and with a wet T-shirt on try to steam it flat!
Good luck

Try crunches.. I find situps tend to hurt your neck if you dont know what you're doing. You could buy one of those situp rests that support your neck. They're cheap and effective. Try to avoid foods containing a lot of saturated fat and drink plenty of water (speeds up metabolism). You'll have a flat stomach in no time.

based on my experience, sit up is not enough, have to do cardio trainning also.. like running & bicycle. and calculate your calories with a dietitian expert.
your training even can be better if you wear special suit, i call it astronout suit... because the material is kindda paraschute / plastic or something, that covers all your body, arms & legs.. it helps your body hotter when you are doing cardio.. more sweat -> more fat burns..
enough drink, but not too much, because your fat gettin harder to burned if you drink too much water
