Silver Raven Wolf..
I am wolf clan.. I have great respect for the wolf.. and have studied them.
Ravens also have intelligence..
In some cases, the names people give themselves - for others to see, or use - are a pride issue.
I have a spirit name, that is mine alone. Only a chosen few know it.. but many will know the 'short' version.
Alot of what you see in print, is pure..fluff.

I always just thought it was because they were flaky and stupid and hated their real names. Oh, and unoriginal because they really do just take those 2 names. Another person mentioned Native American totem animal worship as another possibility. Actually I think that's probably a lot closer than my answer. I guess everyone chose to use their totem animal in their name it could end up sounding worse, like Charity "Mantis" Moon Waxer. That just doesn't work.

Well, I think they came from the Indians. Gen. Sam Houston was called the "Raven" because he lived with the Indians and they gave him that name. I should think that "Wolf" might be the same, from the Indians. The names from animals or birds and such, were meaningful to them as they were tuned so much into nature. It was meaningful to them.

Wicca honors animal spirits. Apparently many people feel connected to these spirits and hence wish to honor them with their names.
