It gives one good practice in eye-hand coordination.

It is often played in teams, so it encourages team spirit and cooperation. The organisation of leagues also means that people travel to different places and meet, make friends and learn to interact amicably (ususally) with others.

It does not involve very expensive equipment, so it is something that everyone can play, young or old, male or female.

Socially, it is a good sport and can be played in many places (both drinking and non-drinking), encouraging competitiveness but also encouraging appreciation of others' skill, so it is as good a spectator sport as a player sport. It seems rare that tempers get very high over it so it tends to give everyone a good and relaxing evening out.

It's really fun and it helps you with your aiming and hand-eye coordination. It sure feels good to hit that bullseye! :)
