I recently purchased an estate in the hills above Malibu. My gardener Miguel, while planting a few hundred rose bushes, unearthed what appears to be a body (human) next to the Koi Pond. I dispatched my butler to verify what Miguel said he had found. Anthony confirmed my worst fears. The problem is, if I notify the authorities, they will probably destroy part of the Koi pond removing it. Not to mention, my property value would certianly drop. I am inclined to simply pretend I never knew anything, and have Miguel deported. Anthony, I am sure I can trust. What do you think I should do.

You cannot afford to deport Miguel. Hell hath no fury like an illegal expelled.

Bribe Miguel, but keep him on a short leash.

Leave the body there, or if you can bury it deeper.

Find as large a tree as you can afford (space and moneywise) to plant, preferably a fast-growing tree.

When it reaches a large enough girth, no one will look under there. Better yet if you can obtain "heritage status" for said tree.

Good luck. Please don't lay a concrete path or anything man-made like that over the site. Such things are never sacred, the Feds find it too easy to dig those up.

Report it to the authorities and deal with the koy pond later. It can always be repaired. Having Miguel deported is not a very nice thing to do and although you feel you can trust Anthony, with something this big he might not be able to keep the secret. The body that's there, if indeed it is a human, could have family that needs to have closure on a relative that has been missing. Your being selfish by not reporting it.

Just having Miguel deported would not be insurance enough. You should arrange for his permanent "disappearance". Perhaps Anthony could help you with that.

However, I worry that perhaps you are trusting Anthony too much. You are putting him in a position where it might be to his advantage to blackmail you and supplement his meager income.

Also, you should consider whether an alternative location for the Koi Pond might not in the final analysis offer the fewest complications.

Yeah, right.
Ok, let's assume that you are telling the truth:
You have to notify authority. This body belongs to a child of some family, or perhaps mom or dad, that has no peace because they do not know if it their loved one is still out there in pain or suffering.
Another possibilty is that the State already knows, and you have unburied a servant or slave.
Get a lawyer and do some research./ That is, if you are telling the truth. If you indeed are telling the truth, then why don't you get off your a$$ and go have a look for yourself.
Not to mention, if you truly are this wealthy, then why would you hire an illegal??? I am thinknig you are slighty wacked and bored, and need to get out more, perhaps.
it's fun to pretend, though, isn't it?
I used to pretend I was queen of the world. Of course, I was 5.

This sounds more like a story than a real situation.

If the body is recent (less than a 100 years or so) you should certainly notify the authorites, there may be people looking for that person, loved ones who have a right to know.

If it's ancient its discovery could also be important,

Actually, I think a dead body has a lot more rights than your pond...

You definetly need to report this! Someone's loved one is probably the body buried in your yard and by finding the body it could help the police solve a crime. How can you be more worried about property value and a pond that can be repaired?

Mulch it up and use it for fertilizer on your few hundred rose bushes. Then mulch up Miguel and the butler to make sure they can't tell anyone about this. If anyone asks about Miguel you can say with all honesty that he is out feeding the rose bushes.

Are you seriously asking if you should keep a dead body on your property because you don't want your property value to go down? Call the police, a crime has been committed. OMG I can't believe I had to tell you that.

hmmmm.....tricky question.....but what id probably do is notify the authorities anyway because if it leaks out that you do have a dead body in possession, and police issued a warrant for it, you can be charged with something serious about keeping information from authorities....i forgot what its called but you could go to jail...

Just think of the poor family that may be missing a beloved member and doesn't know if they are dead of alive. Help put their minds at rest and report the body. Not to mention you make yourself an accessory to murder (Maybe).
