i have bought a pair of jogging bottoms (mail order) and they are too long, i want them taken up 2 inches but they have zips at the bottom, is it possible or do i have to send them back?

Of course it's possible.
Take out the zips.
Turn up to the required length.
Put the zips back. You will need to open up the seam by a further 2" or however much you turn up.
Some cleaners do alterations if you can't do it yourself - but at a cost.

It might be tricky. If they were real long then you can just cut above the zipper then hem it to size them stitch zippers into them again, but if you cant cut above the zippers without cutting into the length, maybe you can cut them into cute gauchos. I used to jog in gray sweats that i cut like gauchos. It was comfertable and breezy.

You probably could, but I would guess that it would cost more to get them altered than they cost in the first place.
