Milk mainly supplies two things you need: calcium, and vitamin D. You can get these from other sources than milk, but milk's a good one.

At age 13, you should be getting about 1300mg of calcium per day (about 4 servings of milk, where a serving is an 8 ounce glass).

The average recommended daily intake of vitamin D is 200 IU. Almost all milk sold in the U.S. has about 400 IU per quart (32 ounces), so 2 glasses of milk would supply you with vitamin D.

Other foods contain calcium and vitamin D, and your body can actually synthesize vitamin D (mainly when the skin is exposed to sunlight), so it's a bit more complicated than this, but I'd think that four 8-ounce glasses of milk a day would be a good thing.

None. Milk is overrated. think about this. Do you see calves drinking from their mothers after 6 weeks. NO, Do you see any animal nursing off of their mothers when they are old?NO So why should we be drinking milk. It causes kidney stones and other things. I was raised on a dairy farm and I never drank milk. My doctor said my kidney have no calcification in them and they look like the kidney of a 20 yr. old. I am 60. When he asked me what my secret was, I told him I don't drink milk. He was surprised. You can get the calcium you need from many different products grown naturally, why do you need milk. This is my opinion and I'm sure a lot of people will put it down but I don't care. Milk rots.

You need a LOT of calcium at this age! You won't regret if you take care of this requirement... you'll grow well, have strong bones, and bigger ones, etc. Along with other food, I take a cup of milk every morning, cheese sandwhich and yoghurt for lunch and another yoghurt for dessert at dinner. This is AT LEAST what you should take-- minimum! If you can take more, take it without hesitation.

Hope this helped! Cheers! :)

You have to take at least three full cups of milk a day. better to take early morning one cup and after noon one cup and neight before going to bed one cup..... This is very good for health.

Follow what your mum says about your health because she knows well how to take care of you.

All the best.

According to the Food Pyramid published by the United States government, you should have 3 cups of milk per day. I entered your age and gender, but was unsure of the exercise you participate in. You may want to try your self at www.mypyramid.gov

Tips for making wise choices

Include milk as a beverage at meals. Choose fat-free or low-fat milk.
If you usually drink whole milk, switch gradually to fat-free milk, to lower saturated fat and calories. Try reduced fat (2%), then low-fat (1%), and finally fat-free (skim).
If you drink cappuccinos or lattes—ask for them with fat-free (skim) milk.
Add fat-free or low-fat milk instead of water to oatmeal and hot cereals
Use fat-free or low-fat milk when making condensed cream soups (such as cream of tomato).
Have fat-free or low-fat yogurt as a snack.
Make a dip for fruits or vegetables from yogurt.
Make fruit-yogurt smoothies in the blender.
For dessert, make chocolate or butterscotch pudding with fat-free or low-fat milk.
Top cut-up fruit with flavored yogurt for a quick dessert.
Top casseroles, soups, stews, or vegetables with shredded low-fat cheese.
Top a baked potato with fat-free or low-fat yogurt.
