Media is what happened to being innocent until proven guilty. A person is tried in the Media long before being brought before a judge or jury.

It's called brainwashing. Just as certain people are brainwashed into becoming suicide bombers others are brainwashed (be the media and the government) into thinking that their human rights should be taken away to protect them against an "enemy". They are also brainwashed into believing that "innocent until proven guilty" is a hindrance to their security.
Remember, a man who said the government was talking rubbish was arrested at the Labour Party Conference. Embarassment meant he was released without charge but he was still arrested under Anti-Terrorist legislation... his crime, speaking out against the government.
Remember, a man has been arrested and, again under anti-terrorist legislation, prevented from campaigning outside the Houses of PArliament about the deaths of people in Iraq.
And the brainwashed masses think it's done for THEIR protection.

The idea that a suspect is considered innocent until proven guilty still works to put burden to the prosecution to substantiate the accusation. However, a growing concept is that the rights and protection of a number of people may outweigh those of an individual. Some call this protection of democracy.

The arrests only happened this morning!!Before they charge anyone,it has to be investigated, which could take time! There cannot be a trial, until they have been charged! How do you know they have found no evidence? Are you privy to information that the rest of the public or police are unaware of?Details of the plot will probably not be made public, they don't want copycat threats,do they? We have to wait for the outcome of this.Don't be too presumptuous!!

As of right now all of the stories I have heard have said that "police say they have foiled" rather than saying that police have foiled. And so far no one has been named on any of the news reports I have heard. That said, I am very concerned about some of the erosion of civil rights that have occurred in the wake of the 911 attacks. Guantanamo bay frightens me- I still believe that the rights laid out in the US constitution and the bill of rights were not intended to be rights for American citizens only but were human rights and that whether or not other countries follow them we should grant the same rights to any prisoners in our control.
