Haven't we taken this whole politically correct thing to extreme measures? It was never this way when I was growing up. And it didn't seem to bother anybody...

Our government (culture) has been moving our society to accept that we are all "victims" on some level or another and that we need to be protected (by the government). The government has been telling us for years that we have the "right" to be offended in many situations. Our courts have supported this by awarding large sums of money when people sue. People are afraid of speaking the truth in many cases for fear of being prosecuted - either in court or in the opinion of their brainwashed peers. You say something I don't like - I'll sue.

Well, here's the thing.. if I had a child that was mentally challenged.. and someone kept calling him "retarded".. I'd prolly smack em upside the head. Political Correctness isn't just people being offended, it's common human decency. There's no need to be calling people retarded.. it's not nice, it's not polite, and it's not right.

Having said that, there are some people that are taking it a bit too far. The reason? .. because they can. If people can, people do.. and that's the end of it.

The world population is growing exponentially.
People have different culture and beliefs as well as being polite. So its no wonder that people are getting more and more politically correct and to a fault for some people who are not used to dealing with other people, much less people of a different culture or race.

We think too much of ourselves, the shift from community to self was a gradual shift. Politically correct is an oxymoron. It is neither political nor is it correct. Most people are like sheep follow these leads blindly, and refuse to think through the issue. That is why I don't watch TV anymore, except for my 50's sci fi, its all brainwashing.

Very true, I'm in advertising and you wouldn't believe how we have to tip toe around political correctness, some really good ideas were shot down because someone might possibly maybe get offended

I know what you mean. When a PC term that was created to be non offensive offends someone, we make up a new one to be non offensive. But there were things that bothered people before PC got out of control. Now this whole over bearing PC thing is offending people. You can't please everyone all the time. Actually, you can't please everyone even part of the time.

I never seen anything like this when I was growing up either. I don't get offended by any comments. Maybe when I was younger, I was but not now.

It freaking nuts how it is. Everything sucks. It even went as far as taking god damn Looney Toons off the damn TV. The things that are important in life are not even so much as an important issue. Like, the working poor, or the homeless,

Of course we are..

But don't forget, when we were growing up, there was more respect then there is now. For family - self - and country.. we wouldn't dare speak badly of anyone, as we do now.
We need to bring back - God - Family - respect - love - kindness..
and.. if you recall, parents were able to be parents.. if you get my meaning.
It's no longer family.. it's all about.. me me me.. self self self

Thanks for the walk down memory lane
Have a great day..

Society has allowed a few to speak for the whole, on any subject...it's freaking insane. It has progressed to the point that rational thinking is being replaced by emotional liberalism.
