Is it true that the above can have serious effects on children?I have been having many problems with my wife.

Absolutely! If your children are very young and hear you quarrel constantly, they're not going to understand and will think it's their fault. If they're older, they will have feelings of resentment toward you or your wife for making their lives uncomfortable with your constant quarrels. You and your wife have to find a more constructive way of dealing with your problems for the sake of the children so that they don't grow up with feelings of resentment, abandonment and guilt.
