There are a few keywords which are generally used such as "IMP", "IMPORTANT", "URGENT" but nowadays people sometime become subconsciously immune to these indicators. Better to mention one of these keywords and then a bit of the subject matter or why you think this is urgent (preferably in not more than 4-5 words).

Generally, marking a message urgent is simply wishful thinking.
When you mark a message as urgent in your e-mail program, it adds a "Priority:" header to the message before it sends it. Mail servers, however, are under no obligation to give this message priority, since RFC 4021 lists the "Priority:" header as "standards-track" rather than "standard", meaning that mail servers may honor this request, if they are so inclined, but are free to disregard it, if they so choose.

Bliddy write 'URGENT' 'IMPORTANT' 'OPEN THIS RIGHT NOW YOU SILLY B@STARD!' all over it!
That should make people sit up and take notice - and possibly get you slapped!

put lots of stamps on it. and write "urgent please don't lose" on it.
In Outlook Express, go to message -> set priority ->high.
Won't make a damn difference though.
