My hardisk was detect in BIOS. But my computer show "Primary Hardisk Fail" when POST. I think my MBR is broken. Does anybody know how to solve this problem. Where i can get the link to free tools.

If mbr fails ,its very difficult to fix.but you can go for tools like DM or Partition Magic.These are some free tools and can be used very effictively to fix mbr problems.

Delete the drive : in Start, Settings, Control Panel, system, Device Manger. Drive letter assignments can be changed in the Device Manger by right-clicking the drive, Properties, Settings. The Primary boot partition must be C: There may be a startup program trying to access drive with it’s old letter. User Start, Run, msconfig to find it.

Go to your bios and make sure to Autodetect the disc also make sure in settings that your disc is listed if not set it also to auto otherwise make sure all cables are fitted sometimes they become loose you only get primary harddisc failure A} it is not been connected B}a device has been added and not set properly yo master or slave C)the listing in the standart setup says some other drive should be there.Take care

try booting with floppy and check with fdisk option if it doesnt work, throw away the harddisk to dustbin and buy new and relax .............be coool
