Hayao Miyazaki...The majority of his anime is hand drawn and has incredible depth. Some background scenes are unbelievably realistic. I also really enjoy all of his movies, whether they are fantasy or dramas.

My favorite two animators are Hayao Miyazaki and Tetsuya Nomura. Miyazaki is an original animator, his works include Nausicaa Of The Valley Of The Wind, My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, Castle in the Sky, Spirited Away (Academy Award winner for best animated feature film in 2002), The Cat Returns, Howl's Moving Castle, etc. Nomura, an computer animator;the director of the anime movie Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, the best computer animation i've ever seen. The animation, graphic design, character design, art design was extremely neat.

Ara~? Animator? I don't noe what that is... But I do have Favorite Mangakas! :D I absolutely LOVE Yuu Watase, Arina Tanemura, and Koge-Donbo. I love their artwork and plots. It keeps me wondering what'll happen next! I highly recommend their works.
Yuu Watase: Fushigi Yugi, Alice 19th, and Ceres: Celestial Legend
Arina Tanemura: Full Moon wo Sagashite, Shinshi Coumei Cross, and Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne
Koge-Donbo: Pita-Ten, Kamichama Karin, Koi Hime Sosi, Yoki. Koto. Kiku, Kon Kon Kokon, and Di Gi Charat.

I don't have a favorite animator, but I do have a favorite studio- Production I.G., a Japanese company that has done animation for Ghost in the Shell, Otogi Zoshi and Jin-Roh to name just a few of their works.

Makoto Shinkai. He produced stunning animation (Voices of a Distant Star) with just himself, a Mac, and a few friends to do the audio. (He also did The Place Promised in Our Early Days later.)

Of course Yu Watase. Her artwork are amazing. Soem of her amazing works are Absolute Boyfriend, Ayashi no Ceres, Fushigi Yuugi, and Alice 19th. Her humorous plots and smooth drawing style has made her popular among both genders.
