Density = mass/volume.

Density is the mass of a certain matter contained in every volume of that matter. In SI Unit, the density is measured in kg/(m^3). It can also be measured in g/(cm^3).

Density = mass/volume

DENSITY:
Density (symbol: ρ - Greek: rho) is a measure of mass per unit of volume. The higher an object's density, the higher its mass per volume. The average density of an object equals its total mass divided by its total volume. A denser object (such as iron) will have less volume than an equal mass of some less dense substance (such as water). The SI unit of density is the kilogram per cubic metre (kg/m3)

how tightly (meaning atoms)packed a substance is. a solid is more dense than a liquid, the liquid is more dense than a gas. if the mass stays the same and the volume gets smaller, the mass gets more dense. like when carbon dioxide is compressed to make dry ice. a waste product from that compression is heat
