It works if it is done right and for the right reasons..i am now engaged to a man i met on the internet..i was a single mom with 2 kids and he was a single dad with 2 kids..we lived about 45 mons from each other...we commuted for over a year to see each other on the weekends and now we have a house and we are planning a wedding.....i didnt go out much and neither did he..i wouldnt have ever met him if it wasnt for yahoo personals..but yes i did have to go through some bad apples to find him....
1. always talk to the person online and on the phone for awhile
2.alwasy meet in a public plac with a time window for about an hour (short and sweet)
3.always let someone know where you are going and as much information as possible about the person
4.do your homework...call his work and just ask for him...if they say he doesnt work there..not a good sign.
5.always drive your own car
6.never give to much personal info untill you know the person is for real
7.go into it with an open mind...

It's just like regular dating, there are some good ones and some bad ones. The good part about it is that there isn't a visual before you meet someone, so you could be talking to someone who you normally would not. This enables you to get to know the person's personality as long as they are honest. Personally, I haven't tried it. I'm too scared I'd end up with a psycho.

Primitive people used to "date" among the people living around them, frequently relatives, since they were not moving much!
Later, people went around and find mates from other regions.
Then, match makers were doing good work!
Lately, people meet many of the other sex and find their mates.
Now, in the electronic age, people start communicating and possibly do a fresh start, trusting the other says the truth and mystery is an important factor!
Thus, internet dating is within evolution!

I met my current boyfriend on the net. We have been together for 10 years this December. Everyone I know told me that it was a bad idea and that he was probably a murderer, but I chose to meet him in a public place and didn't give out personal information until I met him and felt safe. But that was 10 years ago and things have changed, you have to do all you can to keep yourself safe on and off the net. Happy hunting, I hope you find the love of you life.

yes, you have to be soooooo careful because they can tell you anything over the internet. Then when you meet them, they can be pedophiles, and or rapists, or con artists who will take advantage of you, or worse seriously hurt you. They can get away with it because they gave you a false identity. I wouldn't trust to date anyone over the internet.

There are some decent people online... the only problem is there are a bunch of not-so-decent people, and sometimes it's hard to tell which is which by the words that they type. It's easy to seem suave when you have time to plan your words.

I wouldn't do it. And I wish there were ways to insure the safety
of those who do use it. I don't see very much wrong with it's
concepts. I just wish I could safeguard it .
