I live in Scotland & I think it is expensive to holiday here due to the high cost of everything, compared to Spain, USA etc.. What did you think ?

It was expensive for us. We are Americans and the dollar was poor there. Everything was double for us. We didn't care though, we had the time of our lives. We arrived in Glasgow and rented a car. We drove to St. Andrews and to Edinburgh. So beautiful. We continued on to Inverness, my favorite place in the world, especially Urquhart Castle and Loch Ness. We just love the word(city) Drumnadrocit. We went to the Isle of Skye and to Sterling and back to Glasgow. It cost us in American dollars about $5000 dollars for the flights and hotels and rental car. We had a travel agent book it for us. We must have spent at least another $2000 dollars for other expenses. Two nights in Glasgow weren't covered due to the fact we changed the itinerary a little. Plus food, gas, shopping, tours, etc. It was all worth it, though. I envy you living there.

Hello,
We did a little Tripp from Switzerland - London - Glasgow to the Isle of bute and back. So if you compare this places to each other I'd say Scotland wasn't too expensive. Guess it depends more on the amount of what you earn. But I heard that living in Scotland is not too easy because of the high costs from some Scottish anyway.

I've gone to Scotland 12 or 13 times and because of the poor dollar and the inflation,I swear I will never go back..........But I always make it back.If you are happy that you came, money is a secondary factor. If you want expensive, try Finland.

It can be more expensive, but depends where you go. We have started going camping and its really cheap and means you get to see a lot of our beautiful scenery. I think its a shame we scots don't make more of our country when others pay so much to come and visit it.
Also, its better for the environment to stay at home, and looking at the news today - safer too
