They are flat out doing overtime at the moment due to a couple of big honey contracts clashing. I think a few have agreed to do split shifts so they might not finish until after 10pm. Sorry for any delay.

We have a swarm which settles on our roof or in our chimney annually and they usually settle down about 4 pm - this has happened for about the last 30 years!

During this time I have never been stung nor have any others in the area, although the bees can be a bit scary and noisy! Generally, so long as they are not swarming, they will not hurt you.

Depends on their local union rules.

european honey bees have a different union contract the the africanized honey bees. the africanized bees have to return to the hive an hour before sundown because of the light at dusk can't filter thru their shades.
now the european bees have no such rule. the queen would like them home in bed well before dusk because thats her only quite time alone with her babies. if they are not in by then, they have to stay out all night. she locks up right to the minute.
so it really depends if they are with the local unions or with the national union. i know the teamsters are pretty tough on rule fudging.

now, you wanna know about bumble bees too?
