It's because Armstrong became a bit of a recluse, but Aldrin is more outgoing. The theory is that after walking on the moon everything else was dull for Armstrong so he just went home to live a quiet life.

Neil Armstrong really dropped out of the spotlight a few years after to moon landing and left NASA.. Buzz Aldrin stayed in the media, wrote a few books, designed a space station, and designed some rockets..

I've heard that it was more of a public relations campaign that Neil Armstrong got to set foot on the moon first. He was more attractive than Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin. However, it should be pointed out that nearly all of the photos of the astronauts on the moon are of Buzz Aldrin, including the famous one of him standing by the American flag. That was because Neil Armstrong was the one who had the camera and was operating it. The third astronaut on the mission, Michael Collins, never set foot on the moon at all. He remained in lunar orbit while Aldrin and Armstrong got to walk on the moon.

Its not really that true. I'm not sure. Neil Armstrong I think is as much famous as Buzz Aldrin. Especially his quote "One small step for man, one Giant Leap for mankind." Buzz Aldrin I think is more linked to the moon walker shown on MTV? They call it the Buzzy or something. Its on a segment of yahoo before.

A couple of reasons. The first may be Armstrong's personality . . . despite a worldwide media demand for a "star turn", Armstrong has been a resolutely private and dignified individual. In a world which worships celebrity --in my opinion-- his lack of interest in promotion makes him a bit of an "odd bird".
Buzz Aldrin benefits a bit from a memorable name -- the British, in particular, seemed to find it a bit of kitsch Americana (see the Monty Python skit which invokes the name again and again), but mostly from Armstrong's lack of interest in publicity.

Maybe he's a little more outgoing. He speaks out more on documentaries, etc. They may ask to interview Neil Armstrong, too, but he may be more private. Besides, Buzz is a little more colorful. One time one of the moonlanding conspiracy theorists accused him of not really going to the moon, and he punched the guy!

Because of his name. BUZZ! Buzz is a cool name. Neil is a dorky name. Who wants to talk about Neil when you can talk about Buzz.
