If your instaling sheet rock over metal studs just screw to the framing were they line up. If you are useing "hat channel horozontaly space it out at 24" intervals down from the ceiling starting with a "run" at the top and going down. In this method you'll install your goods verticly, if you want to instal your sheet rock horozontaly you'll have to place your center run of hat so that the two edges meet on the material . Screw and glue the board goods to the hat channel for the best hold. look down the lenght of the wall for any ins and outs back your screws out and shim the 'low' spots for a flatter wall. get a screw gun and screw plasterboard to metal studs

you will have to use self tapping screws.
