Doesn't Vanish make a product that takes care of tough stains on upholstery and clothing? Surely there is one for carpets too, as that stuff works like magic!

plenty of cold water and rub salt into it about i hour after,when you have tea or coffee on your carpet you should put cold water on it right away, get an old towel an soak and blot as many times as it takes,do not use hot water.good luck and remember cold water and blot as soon as possible.
