Have we've been too liberal and soft, and is it time to stand up to fundimentalism and show zero tolerance?

Blair and Bush have their own agenda for creating this paranoia we all live under...

Our mistake politically, was the introduction in the seventies of positive discrimination and a leg up the political ladder for immigrants, thus allowing people raised in non democratic societies, to make decisions for us all which worked against the native population... and left many of our own by the wayside...

This fact alone has created an undercurrent of fear and mistrust inside the UK... and it is this same 'fear and resentment', that the two leaders have milked to their advantage, in both countries, by encouraging a 'war on terror' worldwide... a war that never even existed, until they started it!

9/11 was NOT caused anywhere else but inside the US... on their own internal flights... and THAT says more about the US than about the rest of the world... it was not Iraq who started it.

We in the UK lived with daily terror through the IRA these past forty years, yet never, have we needed to bomb a country and create a worldwide web of fear... and no one backed us up, decidedly not the yanks... (who actually worked against us over Ireland) as we are backing Bush...

No act of violence is resolved through another act of violence... no democracy instilled, through conquering a nation.

Democracy takes centuries to evolve and often is preceded through a civil war... it is decided by the people, when they finally have had enough of being treated with contempt by the ruling classes... and oust them all... not by authoritarians!

No nation is all good or bad... we all have bits of both... most human beings are decent and only want to raise their families in peace, and provide a little bit more than the basics that we SHOULD all be entitled to.

There is more than enough in our wolrd for everyone to share... but the few control too much, and the fewer, have had enough... sadly, as throughout time from early days, it is these very people that subversively become enlisted to a crazy cause pupporting to be on their side... and are used as victims too!

The number concerned is probably equivalent to those who would vote for the BNP. Think about it! Let's put it this way. You were born in the UK, maybe your grandparents were born in the UK. You have a full British Passport and have never lived in any other country. You look in the mirror and, OK, you don't fit the white Anglo-Saxon stereotype. You could pass as Portuguese or Brazilian. But what the hell? Your parents brought you up in the Muslim faith, but it didn't mean a whole lot to you. Then came 9/11. You suddenly became everyone's worst enemy. You found it difficult to get a job. The local people started boycotting your father's corner shop. You became a target for random checks by the police. Are you a saint, or do you begin to feel alienated? What choice do you have? Rejected, you seek refuge in your parents' religion, and there you are greeted by a few, who are only too glad to exploit your confusion. Enough said?

Very concerned. But it's going to be hard to dance around the law of human rights, free speech, religious freedom and -- more than anything -- the right of family reunification that works against assimilation and integration and encourages serial migration and the building of alien communities within Britain that lack ties to the British Body Politic.

Yes.I don't think most of the TRUE British want to be soft,Tony Blair and his "cronies" have made it impossible to state ones views, without being arrested for "racial comments" The Government are caught in their own wrong doing,by allowing Europe to make laws concerning our country,ie,"Human Rights"! We in this country are well aware of the Judges who are saying we cannot hold these suspected "terrorists",because it infringes their "Human Rights"! My goodness, do good people have no "Human Rights"? Isn't it OUR "Human Right" to be able to go about our business, without being threatened?I'm sure the police do not decide to arrest these people for nothing, they must have a reason to suspect them! We in this country should now stand up to this Government, enough is enough.Immigration is now out of control, they have NO IDEA how many "illegals" are roaming around the country, and its set to get worse! This country needs to pull out of Europe, close our borders and police them, set our own laws for "Human Right",and above all CHANGE THIS GOVERNMENT!!! Its time to reclaim our country!!
Pole, you are right! Enoch Powel, predicted all this!

I think the moment we adopt a 'zero tolerance' policy, we become the monster we are trying to stop. I mean, I think we're in the poo from the start because 'we', as represented by our government, er, anyway, didn't show enough restraint in our foreign policy, so showing less in domestic policy is just going to make it worse for everyone again.

Their race knows no bounds. We have terrorists in asia, europe, america and africa. Zero tolerance has limits because taken to the extreme, we might just end up having a dictatorship rather than a democrasy.

today the muslim community posted an open letter to tony blair asking him to change britains foreign policy with respect to the middle east. Bunch of islamic bastards (see my other answers for clarification of this point). They are asking a government to change policy so it suits terrorists. They are not out in force defaming the islamic militants behind this and other atrocities - even tho israel is also at fault being an arm of USA. I think its ridiculous that islam in its current militant and terrorist incarnation is allowed in a western country. In this climate we ought to stop immigration and come down hard on the muslim community who put their religion above their nationhood and harbour extremists who corrupt british muslim youth.

Maybe if we had just a bit more tolerance and understanding, then this wouldn't happen. Let's stop assuming our ways are right and look into other societies. Also, we have to look at why these people feel dissaffected in their own country.

If only people had listened.
