Hamachi is a zero-configuration virtual private networking application.

In other words Hamachi is a program that allows you to arrange multiple computers into their own secure network just as if they were connected by a physical network cable.

Hamachi is fast, secure and simple. Its core version is also free.

Let me assume you are talking about Windows PCs.Click Start > Run > Type CONF> Click OK. You will get Netmeeting open. If not configured earlier, you need to do a bit of configurations, which are very easy, like First Name, Email address, blah blah. No need to check Log on a directory server. Do similar configuration on the second machine. But remember to make the name Dick1, if you have put Tom on the first machine. Now on the main screen click on the Telephone Icon. Key in the other machines IP address and click call. Under Tools, click on File Transfer, to transfer a file. If you have two entirely different IP address range (you will be in two different subnets) then you may have to logon to a directory server (ILS). You can search for ILS directory servers on the web for that, and logon to that. You will see Tom and Dick1 listed; let Tom call Dick1, you are through!

Yes, ftp'ing works, but.....

If you are on the same network, you can share files and the file can then be opened/saved on the other computer.

Or...lots of times I just find it easy to email a file to either myself, or someone else, and open it on the other computer (and save it)...this can be slow if the file is too big.

Depending on how big the file is, you can also save it onto a CD or DVD, or whatever other memory card you have that can be read on the other computer.

I don't like to share my files on my computer at all, so I usually use a 1 GB USB memory stick I have, and if it is bigger than that I use a DVD.

Hope this helps.

I hope different IP Address means will be in the same subnet....

You can use netbios or FTP to transfer files. For netbios give \\\c$ or d$ or the share name. For FTP search in any search engines for FTP Server software and install it and transfer.

If it is in two different subnets IP Address, u have to install a router to route 2 different subnet and use FTP to transfer.

You don't. You have a number of options.

> Use a crossover cable and connect the PCs via the ethernet adapter

> Connect over the network via your router for instance

> Run a FTP/SSH/SFTP/P2P server

If you are transferring files just between 2 PCs' either use a crossover cable or connect over the network via a router

you don't choose a router between them for call determination in keeping with se, DNS does that. yet you do desire a direction (various of routers) for them to speak, i.e. do zone transfers. The IP shape of each and every is beside the point. The router(s) will handle routing between the two subnets.

If you control both IP addresses, consider a messaging system, such as Websphere MQ.
