Martin is right. There is a direct Piccadilly Line train. This takes just over an hour. Two points. One, the tube trains are designed for short city centre rides and they are not very comfortable for such a long journey. Also, they are down an escalator and you may not find this easy with luggage. As Martin says, there is an alternative to go by the Metroplitan/Circle Line to Paddington, where the Heathrow Express goes every 15 minutes to Heathrow. But it is very expensive (even the Piccadilly is bad enough): I've just checked and the single fare is £13.50 booked
online or £14.50 from the ticket office.
As people have said, you have chosen a very bad day to ask. Perhaps I can make a point. London has been used to defying threats since the Blitz, and subsequently German rockets, in World War II. Kings Cross in particular has had been subject to both a fatal fire and terrorist attack on the underground. In the UK we have learned that civilians as well as the military are in the firing line when we stand up for our values and our country. In the end we have to accept that life has its risks, and if we label and play up attacks on us we encourage the terrorists to have another go. The British people will support sensible (repeat sensible) politicians to make every effort to make terrorism impossible and to catch those who attempt it. But we will never give into them or cower before them. And ordinary British people don't want the politicians to sacrifice our freedom as a cheap option so that they seem to be doing things - this plays into the hands of the terrorists..

Picadilly Line (Underground) - slow but no changes needed (though there may be a bus replacement at the Heathrow end as one of the Heathrow stations is closed).
or
Circle / Hammersmith and City Line to Paddington, then Heathrow Express train (expensive)
or
Tube/Bus to Central London, then the express bus services from Victoria area.

Hiya mate,
There's loads of options! The easiest by far is to take the tube!
You're at kings X right? So just take the picadilly line straight to heathrow (take around 1h to 1h30 mins).
Or you could take the central line to paddington and catch the heathrow express direct (prob take 30 mins).
Or you could take a bus. Basically you'll want to take the number 10 from hyde park corner or oxford street straight to heathrow (but please check if it does run during the day).
The following link will help, hope it goes ok :)
