Wet mud can shift about due to the water content as dry mud has no water, so the grains of sand cannot move about the medium (ie the water in wet mud)...

also, the grooves on your footwear also play a part!

The wetness reduces the contact you have with the mud and thus you slip.

It's pretty embarrassing when we do though huh?. And then your arm goes up in the air to try & keep yourself from falling, and someone is always looking to. Simple solution- Just avoid mud altogether.

Logically-when one is unconscious
scientific-friction is less there of foot and wet mud cause its smooth

cause ur leg can make bond with the ground (pls refer to the science of friction and viscocity)
and due to lack of grip you tend to slip

Its the same funda which makes car tyres have designs on it

cause u dont step right and since the dirt is wet its not secure enough when u step

bec it is slippy and ur not able to balance it and i dont dont slip much if i run only than i slip
