Head phone packet contains small packet with thin metal strips.No explanation is given.For what purpose?

It is a sterio head phone for computer.
Make is Altec lancing. Model AHS 202i
Company gives no explanation or name for the small packet . It has only 3 or 4 very small and thin metal stips.
The company should have given an explanation. Thay should have told.

The head phone is manufactured by Altec lansing for computers. Model No:AHS 202i. Company has placed small packet with thin metal strips inside its packet. I don't see any purpose for it. No slot or place is given for inserting it in the head phone. Company has not told any thing about this. Would you please tell me the use of these small metal strips?

This would be to replace the existing wire in the cable if it ever wore out or broke. Quite handy really.
